Do It Yourself HVAC
“Engineers like to solve problems. If there are no problems handily available, they will create their own problems.” – Scott Adams
Also known as HVAC for fun and profit (pro-tip: nopes). The only profit comes in the form of having usable heat for the winter, which is rather important when you live in the wilderness of northern Idaho. A side bonus is having cooling, which is helpful in the summer on the days it hits 100F+.
This was probably one of the toughest projects I’ve ever done in my life. I never planned on becoming an HVAC [hydronics] engineer, but as you will read it was bourne out of necessity. The world of HVAC intersects many different disciplines and I have deep respect for those that do it well. It’s also a very sad state of affairs and an industry that is ripe for disruption and simplification. It’s too late for me, but maybe Elon will eventually see it done.
I’ll be posting the full story soon.
